World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation

What are some ways that you are working toward living sustainably?
Sunday September 1st, is World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

A Prayer for our Earth
By Pope Francis*

All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe
and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace, that we may live
as brothers and sisters, harming no one.
O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth,
so precious in your eyes.
Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.
Touch the hearts
of those who look only for gain
at the expense of the poor and the earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,
to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united
with every creature
as we journey towards your infinite light.
We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle
for justice, love and peace.
* Pope Francis published this prayer in his Laudato Si’ encyclical.

Are you searching for a place or space to hold a meeting, study group, or program? Why not consider Shepherd’s Corner Ecology Center as a potential location. Our building can be rented by groups whose missions are compatible with ours. Priority is given to groups that are renting for not for profit purposes.

We would enjoy working with you to design a program to fit the needs or intentions of your group. Facilitated programs can also be scheduled to occur during rental. Some of our program offerings include meditative walking, a facilitated labyrinth, and meeting our animals.

Our rental policies and base pricing can be downloaded here or viewed in your browser.
Rentals are limited to Monday through Saturday. The main building is currently handicapped accessible and we are working to create accessible paths leading to our animals and garden.

Contact Miranda Land at scecologycenter@oppeace.org, or 614-866-4302, to schedule a rental.
More information can also be found on our rental page.

At this time we do not rent the space for weddings or for parties.

Watercolor Felting Class: 8/10

Mini Sheepscape: Watercolor Felt Landscape with Sheep
Saturday, August 10th
1:30-3:30 pm

Three registration spots remaining: 12 participant maximum
Registration closes August 7th or when capacity is reached.

Learn how to ‘paint’ with wool to create an 8” x 8” watercolor image using wet and dry felting techniques. You will build the background from a palette of dyed wool, add lines, shapes, shading, and highlights by applying wool and other fibers with a felting needle. Stitching can also be added for definition and detail. This is a beginner felting class.

Facilitated by: Gail Maraman
$20 program fee

Gail became interested in wool and felt-making when she began caring for a small flock of sheep at Windy Crest Farm in Granville, Ohio. Using the wool from her own sheep, she learned how to design and create many different types of felt: traditional, watercolor, needle, and Nuno. Today, her finished felt pieces include wearable art accessories and items for home decor.——————————–

We ask that you register for programs by calling (614) 866-4302 or through our calendar, https://shepherdscorner.org/calendar. All programs have a minimum of 5 participants.
