Shepherd’s Corner, Blacklick, Ohio
Partner with us in feeding the hungry.
We are committed to donating 60-65% of our naturally grown produce to local food pantries.
Proceeds from the race will benefit our food pantry gardens.
Will this year’s 5K be held?
Shepherd’s Corner’s Farm Fresh 5K is the main source of revenue for our food pantry gardens. For thirteen years this race has been a fun community driven event for all ages of runners and walkers. This year the onslaught of COVID-19 has impacted so many and caused life changes for all of us. The health of all of our friends & supporters is very important to us. For this reason, Shepherd’s Corner Ecology Center has decided to cancel our June 13th Farm Fresh 5K. We will miss the excitement and laughter the racers and walkers bring to Shepherd’s Corner.
The impact of COVID-19 will be felt for quite this time. We know that the need for our naturally-grown vegetables will be even greater this season. Food insecurity in Central Ohio will continue to rise. Now, more than ever, our food pantry garden is extremely important.
It is the mission of Shepherd’s Corner and of the Dominican Sisters of Peace to care for those who are in need. It would be a blessing to have you join us in our mission. If you are able, consider making a donation to support our efforts to get fresh produce into the hands of those in need. We are grateful for support as we strive to serve our community in this turbulent time.
What is a 5K?
A 5K (“five-K”) race is a popular running event that everyone can enjoy from the casual runner/walker to the Olympic athlete. The Farm Fresh 5K race at Shepherd’s Corner is an all-terrain race through the diverse landscape of Shepherd’s Corner Ecology Center. Participants will run alongside naturally grown gardens, across meadow trails, and through wooded paths.
Who can run in the 5K?
EVERYONE! The Farm Fresh 5K is a family-friendly event for runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels. Come and see, and you might just surprise yourself. It’s fun for everyone!
Can I bring my children to the 5K?
Of course! In fact, children 12 and under get in for a reduced rate. Children as young as three have enjoyed walking through our woods and farmland, and in past years several families have even pushed strollers through parts of the course. We pride ourselves on hosting a family-friendly event.
Can I bring my dog to the 5K?
We do not allow dogs at the race. We need to be attentive to the needs of other people and of our farm animals.
How do I join a team? What is the purpose of registering as a team?
You can increase your impact by forming a team to raise funds. Ask friends to run with or to donate to your team. Your fundraising team could even start a Givealanche with their donations!
–If you would like to set up a fundraising team, contact Sr. Marguerite Chandler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
–If you intend to run/walk in the 5K, register for the race and include the fundraising team name on the registration form.
–If you are making a donation only, you can either donate online or complete the Team Up! portion of the race brochure and mail to Shepherd’s Corner. A paper registration form can be accessed here.
–To raise funds, towards your team’s impact with those who do not want to participate in the 5K, use this link! They will need to add a team name for it to count toward your team.
