Saturday, August 27th 1:30-3:30 pm
$20 program fee *7 participant maximum*

Inspiration for the woolscapes. A photograph of a bright green field, on a blue sky day. At the edge of the field on the horizon is a line of darker green trees. Above the trees are puffy clouds, that become wispy as the blue sky continues upwards.
Inspiration photography for the example woolscapes.

Woolscape example: green grass and trees with a blue sky featuring white puffy clouds. Woolscape example: with a grassy green field, rising in the background to a hill. The hill is partially obscured by wispy clouds on a dark blue sky. Woolscape example: green grass of a field with a tree line at the horizon. Low clouds are topped by a light dusty purple rising into a blue sky.

Learn how to work with dry wool to create needle-felted landscapes that represent the natural world. Using a single felting needle and a multi-needle tool, you can paint color with natural and dyed fibers just as you would with a paint brush. Your finished impressionist or abstract wool landscape will be 5” x 7” in size and can be framed for hanging.

Gail Maraman became interested in wool and felt making when she began caring for a small flock of sheep at Windy Crest Farm in Granville, Ohio. Using the wool from her own sheep, she learned how to design and create many different types of felt: traditional, watercolor, needle, and Nuno. Today, her finished felt pieces include wearable art accessories and items for home décor.

Masks are requested if community spread remains high & if a mask advisory is in place for Franklin County at the time of the class.
